If it is true that “Resilience Is About Recharging, Not Endurance“, then it makes sense why Western/American media and rhetoric (which is and historically has been controlled and dominated by white male modes of existence) constantly touts people of color as being so resilient. To me, it reeks of jealousy on the part of the most economically privileged whose egos and world understanding are easily rocked by anyone, for example, that offers any critical questions about the current Israeli-Gaza war. That wrongs against a person or group of historically subjugated peoples is justified because of resilience is not a new notion purported by people and groups holding power and top positioning in any moment of history. To people who have held or who hold power and privilege in a Western Capitalist society, resilience is something reserved for the subjugated, not the elite. It is one thing that cannot be taken by force or through economic prowess; it cannot be bought. Thus, resilience remains an attribute which power holders hold jealousy and contempt for as they can never have it for themselves unless they give up their power and wealth.
