Or as many who don’t hold economic power in the US call it, shopping.
Went to the Salvation Army in Downtown Santa Cruz. Found some decent CDs including Matt Kearney – Nothing Left to Lose The Pixies – Surfer Rosa and Roller Coaster Tycoon 2. The sign on the wall said $2 per CD but then I got charged $2.50 for each at the register…
Went to the Santa Cruz Thrift Center later on in the day. Found a PS2 Slim. It had the AV cables, but no power cable and no controllers. The disc tray had a Finding Nemo DVD in it. The price tag said $25, but with no certainty that it worked, I decided against it since I couldn’t find the power cable. An aisle over, I found a cool looking collapsible trellis thing which I think is used for holding wine bottles. Right next to that was the true gem: a bedside stand for only $2.99 and The Autobiography of Malcolm X for $0.99!
Nothing like the thrill of shopping at the store, finding great deals, to make a day decent. Or maybe I’m just falling for capitalism once again…
